Advocacy

Advocating for extruders at different platforms is the need of the hour. While govt of India has provided numerous schemes and incentives to promote the growth of MSME industries in India, there still remains a gap between policy formulation and policy of implementation. At ALEMAI we have devised a two part strategy to bridge that gap

Policy Formulation

We help the government in making new policies. We reach out to ministries and other government platforms, decision makers, policy makers during the drafting stage so that final policy is helpful to the growth of the nation as well as the industry under this we have taken the following steps:

  • We have represented against the formation of Standard of Scrap or Formulation of Standard on practical aspects of Scrap in the Ministry of Mines.
  • We have represented in Ministry of Consumer Affairs (Parental Body which governs BIS) and then met with BIS officials in Manak Bhawan for Practical
  • ALEMAI has been inducted in MTD-7 committee of BIS (which takes decisions on change/rectification in IS 733 and 1285). We will soon be a permanent member of the committee where we will be representing Aluminium Extrusion Industry)
  • ALEMAI has applied for being part of CED-11 Committee (Which takes decision on Standards of Door/Windows and Structure). Member Secretary has assured us that we will be member of the committee. Thorough our representation in this committee, we would strengthen the standard and its implication so that Dealers/Fabricators can not Exploit Aluminium Extruder for thinner/sub standard Aluminium Extrusion.

Policy implementation

  • ALEMAI has appointed 2 BIS Consultants on the Board for helping Members of ALEMAI for getting Registration in BIS at a heavily Discount of Rs 25,000 per IS (where as Market cost is Rs 50,000 to 80,000 per IS)
  • We have visited Jawaharlal Nehru Aluminium Research Development and Design Centre (JNARDDC) in Nagpur for assessing their facility (they have a SMS make Extrusion press, Die designing softwares, all the Equipment for testing) for the benefit of the Aluminium Extrusion Industry and started sharing latest in technology with all extrusion players
  • We have requested n Ministry of Industry and Commerce for Extension of Implementation of QCO on Aluminium Extrusion industry and got the extension of 6 months and have successful achived the same, allowing all extrusion players to apply for BIS
  • We have approached Central BIS officials for maintaining uniformity in all the regional offices on the applicability of Manuals of BIS so that no member is harassed at the regional level. Central Office has assured us on conducting a seminar soon for the Members of ALEMAI for clearing their doubts.
